Where to Begin...

I have quite a number of topics I need to cover, mostly due to the fact that I haven't updated in so long. I've been falling seriously behind on my gaming, and I believe the main reason is the fact that I'm doing my internship, and that I have discovered the joy of Firefly. Clearly Firefly has established itself as the most prominent nerd obsession of recent history, and I quickly sunk my teeth in to it, seeing as I have a number of nerdy hobbies. Right now I'm trying to think of a hobby I have that isn't nerdy..............damnit. Anyway, the fact remains that this show rocks, and appeals to a wide audience. I forced me Julie to watch the pilot episode, hoping that it would take. Now, as many of you may know, Julie does not really get in to the whole scifi thing at all, and I am happy to say that she actually really likes this show. After digging into the issue a bit, I discovered that the show has a great number of female fans, more so than Star Trek for damn sure. Anyway, moving right along...
So I caught a bit of the Miss America pageant last night. Man has that thing fallen. Not only did they have to delay the whole thing 2 months until they could find a network to air it, but they settled on Country Music Television. This whole debacle led to two quite predictable outcomes. The first being that the swimsuit competition has been brought back. This is clearly an attempt to try to scrape together some ratings, feminists be damned. In fact, even though they mentioned that it had been gone for awhile, they were quite careful not to mention as to why it was ever taken away in the first place. But clearly, whatever reason it was couldn't stand up to the almighty dollar. The other rather predictable outcome had to deal with the selected top ten. Now for those of you don't know, for these things they eliminate 42 or so of the states beore the cameras even begin to roll, and only the top ten go on to actually do anything. Sure this is necessary for time reasons, but i still disagree with it on principle. But that isn't the funny part. The funny part is that the ladies who were selected were exactly who you would expect if you were to base it on which states are most likely to tune in to CMT. Every one of em was from a southern state (D.C. and Virginia are included here...sue me) except for one...Pennsylvania who was in my humble oppinion the most aesthetically pleasing of all 52. Now believe me... I recognize that southern girls are some of the best...I think I have a better grasp of this than most in fact. But still...FIX!!! FIX!!! It is much more likely that they are desperatley trying to bail themselves out and boost their ratitings by catering to the audience. By the way, Wiley I think Miss Alabama may have gone to school with you. Her age and hometown were right at least.
Lastly I would like to mention that I finally saw Sin City the other night. I learned a couple of interesting things. First, I had no idea that Josh Hartnett can act...who knew. Also, I had no idea that there would be so many assholes out there who would take the time to scream at people that this movie sucks. Of course, these people just have an inflated ego about their own movie watching habits combined with an overall insecurity, but I mean come on. Just go to the IMDB board for evidence of this. This movie was total pulp... I didn't go in expecting to have my life changed or for it to envoke deep thoughts, but I was expecting to be entertained...and I was WILDLY entertained. I heard that they actually filmed all the scenes verbatum from the graphic novels and then went back to edit it. Is this the case and if so how much footage are we talking here? Anyway, awesome movie and if you haven't seen it yet, well, do it.
Anyway, up at 6am tommorow and still a bit to do tonight, so peace out all.

I cough up orange and blue...

I am just now recovering from our bowl game. Something just wasn't right from the start. I had been slowly getting ill the days leading up to the game, and it seemed that day that our fates were intertwined. I went in thinking, Auburn is going to mop the floor, and my immune system will likewise kick some ass. Six hours later I had a fever of 104. Needless to say, we both kind of dropped the ball. However, I seem to be bouncing back now. To all those who have graced my presence lately, I am sorry if I infected you. However, take heart in that you would have likely caught it anyway seeing as what i have is kicking the entire states ass right now. For awhile I was thinking Super Flu. The end of 99% of the population, and i get it in the first wave. Lame... just as I become a gun owner too. But then again, I think that everytime I get sick. My cohorts tell me these are irrational delusions, I disagree however. Although I would wouldn't I?
Other than that, no real news.
DQ8 has got me more pysched than any game since FF7. Unfortunatly less time for that when I'm layed out like I am. Sometimes I think of myself as merely a host for this being...
